I've been on both sides of this spectrum. I've had amazing successes and have had many failures...or I should say, I discovered ways that did not work. I've had many disappointments as well. Some things you can control and some you really can't. When I became a Christian, I started looking at both success and failure very differently. I still get in trouble once in a while, usually when I try to do things my own way, getting ahead of God.
Some people feel the fact that there is suffering in this world that God is either insensitive, a masochist or he does not exist. Some people preach that if you become a Christian that God keeps trouble away. Neither is true.
First of all, God never meant for us to suffer and the world we live in now is a consequence of the fall. Second, the bible does not say that as Christians we will not have problems, but quite the opposite is true...the bible says that we'll have trouble in this life, however, that Jesus has overcome the world.
I can tell you this, based on my personal experience, God is a healer, redeemer, comforter, a wise guide and much more when it comes to facing the challenges of life, but that is not the reason I advise you to consider a relationship with Jesus, God's only son. It is because, one day, we all will face God's judgement and without Jesus, I, we are all guilty as charged and the consequence will be devastating for people who choose wrong.
I'm grateful that I know God's son personally and so can you. I hope that these pages will inspire you. And I pray that you would get to know him...you are the one who will benefit from this relationship. No matter where you have been and the sins you have committed, God is always waiting for you to turn back to him with open arms.
