The Problem With Judging Others For Their Success Or Failure
It's easy to judge others. Even as Christians, it's easy to fall into that trap. We judge people for their success, concluding that they must of stolen the money somehow or they must be evil and must of taken advantage of others to get it. Or we judge people for their failure saying that they must have lived in sin since they failed. The Bible has a lot to say about being judgmental. Jesus understood about the human tendency to put others down. Among Christians, this can take the form of questioning other's spiritual conditions. Based on the bible, all of these attitudes are wrong.
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the #LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)
"Judge not, that you be not judged. "For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. "And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye? "Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. Matthew 7:1-5 (NKJV)
Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 (NKJV)
Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! James 5:9 (NKJV)
Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another? James 4:11-12 (NKJV)
So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. James 2:12-13 (NKJV)
