God's Amazing Mercy To Our Moral Failure

I'm amazed at God's mercy in my life.  He did for me while I was a sinner.  I thank God
every day for his mercy not just for saving me but mercy for everyday living.  God is
good.  As Christians we are called to show the same mercy on others as he has
shown us.

The Bible promises many blessing for people who can mirror God's mercy and it
warns us if we don't show the same mercy to others.

Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.  Matthew 5:7 (NKJV)

For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy
triumphs over judgment.  James 2:13 (NKJV)

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies,
kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and
forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as
Christ forgave you, so you also must do.  But above all these things put on
love, which is the bond of perfection.  And let the peace of God rule in your
hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Colossians 3:12-15 (NKJV)

not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing,
knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.
1 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)

"But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward
will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.
"Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.  "Judge not, and you shall not be
judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and
running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be
measured back to you."  Luke 6:35-38 (NKJV)

But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?  Then Jesus
answered and said: "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among
thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
"Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on
the other side.  "Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed
by on the other side.  "But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And
when he saw him, he had compassion.  "So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring
on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

"On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and
said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.'  "So which of
these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?"  And he said, "He who showed mercy on
him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."  Luke 10:29-37 (NKJV)
