While I do recommend the concept of pinging, I would also recommend a plugin called “cbnet Ping Optimizer” to prevent over pinging…which could be considered spam.

Pinging your site just makes the search engines aware that you have new content. If you have a blog via WordPress, you have a pinging service integrated into the site under settings…writing. So every time your blog has a new blog or comment, it sends out a ping to tell the search engines that you have new content. It usually comes with about 10 – 20 links. You can add additional pinging sites like these. Make sure that you eliminate duplicates so it only pings each site once. you can just paste your links into Excel and then sort them…and then eliminate any duplicates. Sitemap Submission is one of the most important elements of SEO tactics. Without creating and submitting a sitemap for your website or blog, it will take much longer for search engines to find you. Once you have created a sitemap, you can submit it to the following links below. Make sure you replace the “your website” part with your URL.
