Your Great Name

Jesus, worthy is the Lamb that was slain for us| Son of God and man you are high and lifted up; that all the world will praise Your Great Nameᶦ

This song has been playing all week in my heart and I know we can hear that song and it goes in one ear and out the other without any thought to God. We have become condition to hearing these worship songs and living our day like Jesus Christ hasn’t done anything for us. These songs aren’t the songs you hear from your favorite pop artists of this world on the radio. This song talks of Jesus Christ sacrifice on a cross made of wood. We need to take notice of what God is doing and what some these songs are saying. I say some of these songs because not all the songs we hear on the radio or internet are Bible base songs. We need to be aware of what we hear because our children are listening too.

Sometimes the Lord puts a song on your heart because He wants to do something in your life. Here are more of the words to this song from Natalie Grant “your great name”:

Lost are saved; find their way; at the sound of Your Great Name|All condemned; feel no shame; at the sound of Your Great Name| Every fear; has no place; at the sound of Your Great Name| The enemy; he has to leave; at the sound of Your Great Nameᶦ

Your great name is Jesus Christ who came to this earth to set the captives free from their sins, pain, struggles, sickness, stress, and whatever else you might be going through. Jesus Christ came to give you freedom from the oppressor. The oppressor is Satan who comes as a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. We are to resist him, standing firm in the faith because our brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of suffering. (1Peter 5:8-9) Satan will also masquerade himself as light so be on your guard that no one will take you away from Jesus Christ. (2Corinthians 11:14) But, know this there will be a time when the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. (Romans 16:20) But while we wait for that time to come let us take everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ⁷And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

“Your Great Name” represents Jesus Christ who has power to save your very life from hell that you might be in or the dead end job…or the abusive husband or wife…or the prison you have made for yourself. But, wherever the circumstance Jesus Christ came to reign in your life not for you to live oppress by Satan. The Song, “Your Great Name” goes on to the 2 verse:

All the weak; find their strength; at the sound of Your Great Name| Hungry souls; receive grace; at the sound of Your Great Name| The fatherless; they find their rest; at the sound of Your Great Name| Sick are healed, and the dead are raised. At the sound of Your Great Nameᶦ

All the weak find strength at the Name of Jesus Christ. Hungry souls receive grace at the Name of Jesus Christ. The fatherless find rest and the sick are healed at the Name of Jesus Christ.

Satan flees at the Name of Jesus Christ. (James 4:7)

Jesus, worthy is the Lamb; that was slain for us| Son of God and man; you are high and lifted up
that all the world will praise Your Great Name.| Your Great Name.ᶦ

When you hear this song “Your Great Name” lift up your hearts in song and praise the name of Jesus because He is worthy of your praise. At the name of Jesus ever knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God. (Romans 14:11)

Son of God and man; you are high and lifted up that all the world will praise Your Great Name| Redeemer, my Healer; Lord Almighty| My Savior; Defender; you are my King| Redeemer; my Healer; Lord Almighty| My Savior; Defender; you are my Kingᶦ

Is Jesus your redeemer, healer, Lord Almighty, Savior, Defender, my King? The Lord is all of that and more to me. Jesus has been playing that song and I sang it and praise Him but the Lord wanted to do more. I was frustrated and what are you trying to tell me I cried…finally my heart just cried my struggles…I struggle with wrong thinking that my Father in heaven is upset with me…I mess up and I think that I will be punish but that is wrong thinking…I have been hiding a secret door in my heart and I haven’t been able to open that door. My door was a thing that I push down to the very depths of my soul and soon I forgot all about it until last night when the Lord took me on a journey through my darkest memories of pain. The Lord said He would hold my hand and we went through my undesirables of my past. Holding my Father’s hand made me feel invincible because Jesus was there. Redeemer my healer, Lord AlmightyMany times we talk through the memory and I forgave them or I forgave myself for holding on to that memory…then there was the door…but I couldn’t open it because of what was behind that door was unimaginable pain and anguish and I needed someone to help me. “Help me”. My Savior; Defender; you are my King…My Savior pick me up and open the door for me…Redeemer; my Healer; Lord Almighty…the pain and anguish was there but like the three men in the furnace in the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego Jesus Christ was there too. (Daniel 3) Jesus Christ held me in His arms through each step of the way and He has never let go. My Savior; Defender; you are my Kingᶦ…the Lord fights for His beloved. He wants us whole and to live victorious lives but if we struggle with who we are in Him and we don’t understand why we keep messing up. We cry to Him for help…He will answer with His answer…even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)

Are you holding the Lord’s hand? Is Jesus the Lord of your Life? Can you say “Jesus Christ is Lord?” If you can’t say “Yes” to anyone of those questions maybe you do not know Him because He hasn’t become your Lord. Sometimes when you first come to the Lord you can ask Jesus into your life but if there is no conversion and no Holy Spirit you lack the power in your life.

Who is Jesus, you may ask and why do we need to praise Him? Our God in heaven devised a plan so that we could live a life free from sin…you say sin I haven’t sin? This sphere we call earth belongs to God who is master of this universe…if you believe in the big bang you have been sadly misinformed…because matter doesn’t form like that…there needs to be higher power involved…God formed this world in 7days…on the sixth day He created man in His own image…that man wanted more and because he wanted more sin was born…God loved a group of people called Israelites…He gave them the Ten Commandments but they could not stop sinning so God sent His one and only Son to be born…His Son grew and when he was 30 he began his ministry…Satan tried to oppress Jesus but Jesus reign …many people opposed him and wanted him dead …one of his own betrayed him for a handful of coins…before the judge Jesus wasn’t alone, His Father was with Him…he was whipped until he was unrecognizable…but still God was with Him…they handed him a cross and he walked through crowds of people who mocked him…but still God was with Him…the nails went into his hands and feet…the pounding the splitting of the skin…the oozing of the blood… My Savior; Defender; you are my King …stretched across a wooded cross our Lord cried out… “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Jesus died and three days in hell He raised reigning and interceding for us at the right hand of the father…so you see you need Jesus Christ as your Lord and King.

Jesus, worthy is the Lamb that was slain for us| Son of God and man you are high and lifted up; that all the world will praise Your Great Nameᶦ

What do you have to do to live this victorious life?

Repent of your sins…Believe that Jesus Christ was born…that He died and rose on the third day and is seated at the right hand of the Father…so that you can have eternal life …surrender your will and ask Jesus Christ to come and live in you…so that All the weak; find their strength; at the sound of Your Great Name| Hungry souls; receive grace; at the sound of Your Great Name| The fatherless; they find their rest; at the sound of Your Great Name| Sick are healed, and the dead are raised. At the sound of Your Great Nameᶦ

Thank you, Father for your great name sets captives free so that we can live victorious lives in you. Thank you, Father that we can raise up in the ranks through your healing powers and be called blessed. Thank you, Lord that you are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and that you’re the Great Physician of my heart. Thank you! Thank you that you are the God who cares for us that you don’t leave us in our state of suffering but lift us up. Thank you!

I pray for your people who are called by your name that they will humble themselves and pray that they will seek your face and open the doors of their heart because our hearts are not pure. (Matthew 15:19) Create in us a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within us do not cast me from your presence or take not thy Holy Spirit from me, restore unto to me a joy of thy salvation and renew a right Spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10) Help us to praise your name and not be blind to the works of the Holy Spirit in our lives. In Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
