Start your Day with God…

Start your day with GodThis is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. Isaiah 48:17

I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. Proverbs 8:17

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon (our sin). Isaiah 55:6-7b

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 1 John 5:11

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. 1 Chronicles 16:10-11

AMEN!!!

Draw Near to God…

Draw near to GodPaul writes, But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.  2 Thessalonians 2:13

Jesus said, When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.  John 15:26

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth. (you worship God through the Holy Spirit according to God’s truth revealed in the scriptures) John 4:23-24

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:12-13

AMEN!!!

Alone with God…

Alone with GodGod is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Psalm 46:1

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  Psalm 139:23

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;  Psalm 46:10a

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him, Nahum 1:7

Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.  Psalm 62:8

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.  Hebrews 4:16

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love. 2 John 1:3

AMEN!!!

Seek the LORD…

Seek the LordFrom one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men (and women) would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.  Acts 17:26-27

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:12-13

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:5-7

AMEN!!!

Asking the Right Questions- Introduction

Are You Asking God the Right Questions?

So many times I find myself asking God questions. I ask Him if I’m important, if He has a plan for my life, if I’m living out my purpose. So many of those questions are about myself. It’s important to know that God loves each one of us and knows us better than we know ourselves, but should our focus be merely on ourselves? Is the motivation behind our seeking merely to stroke our egos?

Many times people turn to the verse Jeremiah 29:11 where God tells us that He has good plans for us. We get so encouraged that we often stop reading. We feel like we’ve found the answer to every question we have about ourselves. God says that He has a plan and we know His plans never fail, so we can just relax and keep on living our lives now. Crisis averted… But if we would keep reading, we would see in Jeremiah 29:12-13 that God wants us to seek Him. He wants us to know Him. How sad is it that even when we are seeking His plan for our lives, we stop listening when His answers no longer are about us?

I’ll give you another example. Question: How do you know that God loves you?  Answer: John 3:16. But do you know that this verse also answers the question “What is God’s plan for me?” Probably not. You see, it says that God so loved the world that He
gave His only Son so that none should perish, but all should have everlasting life. Did you see that “so that” part in there? I used to rush right past it, until I started asking God the right questions.

The Bible holds so much truth and wisdom for each of our lives, but we never seem to find it. Sometimes we wonder why God is so elusive and why He won’t just tell us what to do. We don’t see that He has already told us what to do. He wants us to seek Him. When we do that we will find Him, and when we find Him, He will give us the desires of our hearts. That seems impossible. How do we get the desires of our hearts if we can’t find it unless we seek God with all of our hearts? The answer is that God should be the desire of our hearts.

In the coming weeks, I will be writing on some of the biggest questions we ask God. I think it’s important to look not only at what we are asking, but how we are asking and why we are asking. Sometimes we want to blame God for things we aren’t doing ourselves. Sometimes we’re only looking for God to give us the answer we want. Hopefully this will be helpful in your search to know God more, and to see that He doesn’t always show up where we’re expecting Him. If He only did that, we’d never have to seek Him and we’d never truly know how great He is.

The Promises Of God!

The promises of God I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.  Proverbs 8:1

Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  Jeremiah 29:12-13

(Jesus said) All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. John 6:37

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God’s elect and the knowledge of the truth (about Jesus) that leads to godliness—a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,  Titus 1:1-2

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.  2 Corinthians 1:20

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”  John 11:25-26

Yes, I do!!!
