All of the top producers in the world (both online and offline) will occasionally talk about why people fail. Top online leaders often comment that the reason some fail is because “they don't know what to do next." Having been in business for over 20 years, I've seen many talented people in a myriad enterprises both succeed and fail. To varying degrees of detail and availability, most businesses offer the "what to do next."
So why do some people still fail (I should say “give up on themselves”), while others make fortunes?
The secret is this area right here…personal development. If you’re like most, you think that once a person has achieved success, they have somehow acquired enough “magic points” to have a positive attitude. Sure, so-in- so is happy and confident – who wouldn’t be with so much success? I have fallen into believing this myth myself. But it’s actually the other way around. You have to first find belief in yourself and your future and THEN it manifests in your life and your business.
I know you’ve heard this before, but like all truths, we must be reminded constantly. It’s all in the decisions we make every day…every hour…every moment.
Be honest, which group do you belong to? 1. Curious, critical, analyzing attitude 2. Incredibly determined and hard working – for a short period of time 3. Patient and consistent
The good news is that you can control your thoughts and your attitude. People who have a great outlook work on their attitude by putting positive things into their mind…and then protect what they have carefully cultivated. When they have negative thoughts, they do not meditate on them but catch the lies they are hearing (and repeating to themselves over and over) and replace them with what they want in their life – all the positives!
This does not come naturally...you and I have to work at it every day. It’s similar to a beautiful garden. No matter how gorgeous the flowers, it will be attacked by weeds. The breathtaking beauty can be almost completely lost if surrounded by a sea of overgrown weeds (which are usually more aggressive about spreading and reproducing). No, a lovely garden (or attitude) is not left to chance…it is intentionally planned, planted, watered and protected.
There are some great books that will help you maintain a winning attitude. I work on this area of my life all the time. I listen to tapes and/or read books every day that fill my mind and my heart with power and possibility.
So how much time should you dedicate to your attitude? For every 8 hours you work your business, you should spend 1 to 2 hours on self development. WHAT!? 1-2 hours every day?! Yes. Trust me, the time you dedicate to maintaining a positive attitude will make you twice as effective in the remaining work hours. You will actually be ahead!
I urge you to listen to a one-hour audio by Ellie Drake...it's free. She also talks about "the law of attraction". See Ellie Drake Community below.
My favorite books are: The Bible This book gets my priorities straight and guarantees my future
Here is a great site www.FocusSociety.com which discusses the book "Think and Grow Rich". You can even download the audios.
Ellie Drake Community is a great source to improve yourself. She has a live call every Monday night. She also, has many recorded calls. She is just awesome. She's also got a great audio series (visit her site for more details).
You need to spend at least a couple of hours per week working on your attitude. If you're having difficulty finding the time, some of these books are available as an audio book. You can listen to them in the car.
