Targeting Your Ads
Niche Marketing:
Targeting your ads is an important aspect of your advertising success. Even if everyone in the world could use
your product....most products or services have a niche (a segment of the population that is far more likely to
buy). It is important to test different audiences and vehicles and constantly fine tune your approach.
Below are a few examples of different messaging for different niches.
Let's say that you're selling any of the products below. Please remember that I have focused only on the
product side of the business for these examples.
Nutritional Products:
You could say that everyone and their mother could use your product, however, targeting health conscious
people would give you a much higher success rate.
When you could reach such an audience in many different ways.
Magazines that focus on health
Target health and nutritional areas in Free ad forums and blogs
Target health keywords like nutrition and getting in shape etc., when doing Pay Per Click ads.
Target a mailing list that subscribe to a health magazine, etc.
Women, in general are far more health conscious and make most of the health decisions for the entire family
Be creative...and test, test, test
Beauty Products:
Here again, the world is your target, however, I
bet you that "women" in a certain age group would
respond more that other groups if the product
promises to keep them looking young.
Again you would use advertising vehicles, ad
areas and keywords that best represent that
target.
Informational Products (e-books or courses)
Instead of going after everyone...you might want
to consider the topic of the book...let's say it's on
"How to make money on YouTube ". I would
especially focus my advertising on YouTube
(and other video sites).
Changing your message with different audiences
Some of your services have multiple product lines that appeal to different audiences. Make sure you change
your message based on the audience you're dealing with. Even in the example of the e-book on YouTube
above, I could target free ad sites since it is a free form of advertising. However, my headline would change to
something like this..."Insider Secrets - Free Traffic With YouTube!!!". In the body of the e-mail I would
tell them that they can make money as well.
Again, think about your audience and mold your message to them.
Selling a Home Business Opportunity:
The same applies when marketing a home business. The best place to advertise is on sections dedicated to
business opportunity seekers.
If I'm advertising to a segment of people that I know are already engaged in home businesses now, I would have
a different message than I would to an audience who are just starting the process of looking for a business.
If I'm talking to existing home business professionals, my headline and message would be something like this:
Making any MONEY in Your Home Business?
Getting any SUPPORT in your current Home Business?
Sick Of Making NOOO MONEY?
LOOKING for WINNERS in LOSING Business.
Does YOUR BUSINESS SUCK?
When I target people that are more likely to be newcomers to the game, I would focus on the main reasons
people are looking for a home business.
Quit Your JOOOB...I did!
Fire Your BOSS!
The 10 Biggest Mistakes When Choosing a Home Business!
Choosing The Right Business Opportunity...Things You Need To Consider
Just remember, have fun and test, test and test some more. A few of your messages will hit home more than
others. Keep the ones that are working and replace the non-performers.
